A Place for Everyone
At Westminster, we envision a holistic approach to education. Combining academics, arts, athletics and real life experiences, we seek to create equal opportunities for all of our students. Every student has a voice. Every student has a unique story to tell. Westminter is place for everyone.
Welcome back to our returning Warrior families and welcome aboard to our newest Warrior families. Thank you to all of our families for supporting the transition of your student(s) into Westminster. It's hard to break away from the unstructured, warm summer days we have enjoyed these past two months.
Our Grade 7's celebrated their arrival with a BBQ/Orientation on August 30th and all Warriors joined in for our Warrior Pancake Breakfast on Friday, September 7th. Congratulations to our Warrior student athletes who are representing our school for Soccer, Volleyball and Cross Country over these next months.
At the core of Westminter's pedagogy is the IB Learner Profile which is built on high standards of student work, behaviour, community involvement, and school spirit. As we start off a brand new school year, when we look ahead to many new experiences, it seems a natural opportunity to re-connect with our curiosity. There is a sense of wonder about all of the things there are to learn this year. With these thoughts in mind, our IB Learner Profile focus for September is about Inquirers. Informed by the International Baccalaureate (IB) mission to develop active, compassionate and lifelong learners, the IB programmes foster a distinctive set of attributes. These qualities — embodied in the IB learner profile — prepare all of our students to make exceptional contributions to the community. As Inquirers, students develop their natural curiosity. They acquire the skills necessary to conduct inquiry and research and show independence in learning. They actively enjoy learning and this love of learning will be sustained throughout their lives. (IBO) This is probably the reason why Voltaire said, “Judge a man by his questions rather than by his answers.” At Westminster, we are looking forward to everyone’s curiosity and inquiry this year!
On behalf of all of us at Westminster, we are excited that you have chosen to be a Warrior! We stand out for our exceptional programming, academic excellence, and dedication in giving back to the community. Combining academics, arts, athletics, and service, we look beyond just schooling to educate whole, well-rounded students through a multitude of opportunities and experiences. Westminster is #somethingforeveryone. Be sure to check us out on Instagram @westminsterwarriorsjh and Twitter @westmisterJH.
