A Place for Everyone
At Westminster, we envision a holistic approach to education. Combining academics, arts, athletics and real life experiences, we seek to create equal opportunities for all of our students. Every student has a voice. Every student has a unique story to tell. Westminter is place for everyone.
We are so proud of all that our students have achieved this year. Hard work, creativity, kindness, and brilliance have shone through as our Warriors have persevered to reach their goals under our four pillars of academics, arts, athletics and service. Our Warriors continue to amaze and impress us with their commitment to learning and growing as students and as human beings. This commitment was recognized by the Edmonton Oilers Community Foundation in their latest press release; Westminster School has been selected as one of four schools in Edmonton to participate in the Hockey Helps Kids program. We are honoured to be working with the Edmonton Oilers Community Foundation in support of a local charity for the 2019-2020 school year and look forward to all of our Warriors working for kids!
To our Grade 9 students, we hope that you have enjoyed your time at Westminster. I know I speak for all of the staff here when I say that we have sincerely enjoyed getting to know each one of your unique personalities over the past three years. Your life is transitioning to a new and exciting chapter, and while change is never easy, know that with every change comes great opportunity. If we have succeeded at teaching you anything over the last three years, we hope that it's that each one of you know that you have the ability to become whomever you want to be. The potential that each one of you has is boundless and we can't wait to see all the incredible things you get up to as you move on down your respective paths. In Hawaiian, the "Ohana" literally means family, but it's more than just immediate family - 'Ohana encompasses extended family, friends, and those people important in our lives. We are, and will always be your Warrior 'Ohana - Mahalo.
To our Grade 7 and 8 students, as you leave us for two months of summer bliss, we hope you will take the many educational and life-related lessons you’ve learned this year. We have enjoyed watching you flourish into well-rounded, compassionate, and community-focused humans and we look forward to all the great things we will get to watch you accomplish next year. School starts on Tuesday, September 3rd at 8:47 AM. We will communicate out more information pertaining to the start of the school year with our families in late August via email and SchoolZone.
Please note that Westminster School is closed in Grades 7 to 9 in the IB Middle Years Program and in Grade 9 in the Regular Program. We are still accepting applications in Grade 7 and 8 in the Regular Program. We are only accepting registrations in the Grade 9 Regular Program if you are newly moved into the school's attendance area after April 15th, 2019.
Our Warriors are truly the epitome of our school's tagline, #somethingforeveryone, and we are truly humbled to be able to work with our Warriors on a daily basis. It has been a pleasure to serve as your principal this past year. Have a wonderful summer!
