Lunch & Nutrition
During the lunch hour, students are encouraged to eat at the school in one of our two eating areas or in the small gym. Once students have completed their lunch, we want them to go outside to get fresh air and exercise. In accordance with district guidelines, if the temperature is below -23°C, students are allowed to stay in the building in supervised areas. During the lunch period, we have the following expectations:
- All students are expected to be respectful, listen attentively when required, appreciate fellow students and faculty, and participate in such a way that they demonstrate they are amazing young adults.
- Students need to bring their own utensils for eating. We do have emergency supplies for students upon request.
- After lunch, students should clean up their own area and put any trash in the garbage and place recycling in the appropriate bins.
Westminster does offer students access to a school store during the lunch hour, where students can purchase food (if they so choose.) The school store carries apple and orange juice, water, and G2. It also features daily specials which are brought in by the following merchants in our neighborhood. For the 2017 - 2018 school year, our vendors will be changing based on student choice. For the 2016 - 2017 school year, we utilized the following vendors for our students:
Subway , Booster Juice, Burrito Libre, Wok Box, Edo, Little Ceasars, Native Delights
Every month we have a special lunch day for our students, where we bring in a different vendor (or vendors) to change things up a bit! Look for Food Trucks of Edmonton and more!
